How do I rotate images?

This sometimes happens when the camera was rotated when the image was taken  originally and the device's software has not compensated for the rotation and therefore the metadata of the image file has the orientation set incorrectly.

You may not have noticed this before because in some software such as Apple Photos, when you rotate an image, you're just doing it in the application and it doesn't actually alter the original stored image file.

To fix

On a Mac

  1. Download and open in Preview  (on your Mac)
  2. Rotate 360 degrees in Preview.
  3. Resave
  4. Upload again as a New Version
  5. Fixed.

On a PC

  1. Open in Photoshop
  2. Check Rotation and adjust of necessary
  3. Resave
  4. Upload again as a New Version
  5. Fixed.

Note: Rotating an image in some applications doesn't fix the issue when you download and upload somewhere else - such as an image uploaded and rotated in Apple Photo - which when moved to another system like Brandkit - reverts to it's original rotation.

Happy branding :)

How do I rotate images?

Uploaded images are sometimes incorrectly rotated as landscape instead of portrait or vice-versa.
