New: Multiple Credits
Introducing Multiple Asset Credits in Brandkit.
What’s a ‘Credit’ in Brandkit
Credits are the people, or organisations you want to credit (attribute) for specific content assets.
These might include photographers, stylists, properties, locations, talent, authors, vendors, partners, etc.
Giving credit or attribution is often a bit loosey goosey, so we’ve tightened things up and made Credits more powerful and useful, with a dedicated database and landing pages for assets attributed to a particular person or organisation.

What’s new
We’ve added a new feature to Brandkit this week which is aimed at solving a problem one of our customers (Resene Paints).
The Multiple Credits feature is essentially the ability to add one or many Credits to a single Asset. Something we had not considered before we knew about Resene Paints requirement for it.

Resene has some beautiful photographs of styled room scenes, in their Brandkit. These photos show off their paint colours in context. These images feature rooms styled by a stylist, featuring furnishings and props from a supplier, and are obviously photographed beautifully buy a Photographer.
Resene wanted to give attribution to not only the photographer, but also the stylist and also suppliers of various props or furnishing featured in their photography.
Before multiple credits, Resene was kind of hacking the Asset Titles, Asset Descriptions and Tags, and adding text mentioning all of the people that wanted to credit.
That was OK but of course they missed the benefits of using the the existing Credits feature and the built-in Credits database.
Such as:
- Customisable Credit Profiles
- Each Credit gets their own Asset Search page (e.g. as shown above for Rose Creative)
- Links to the Credit’s Credit Profile page from the Asset
- Automatic insertion of who to credit in Licences text using {{dynamic text}}
- Automatic inclusion of Credit display name in Portal Asset Pages
- Automatic inclusion of Credit Display name in downloaded Licence Text
We’ve updated the edit metadata form on the Asset page in Admin, to include the ability to add multiple credits, and when you do, a credit profile page is automatically created for that person or business.
Once created the first time, the Credit will appear as a type ahead suggestion whenever you add a Credit in the future.
Later you can edit the credit profile page and your account settings.
Default Credits
A previous update added a configurable default Credit. So for example please you can now setup your own Org or Brand as the default Credit whenever you create a new Asset.
You can then override with a different Credit, or add additional Credits.
A handy time-saver.
You’ll find this setting in: Admin > Settings > General > Default Credit
You may have to setup your preferred Credit first in: Admin > Settings > Credits
Dynamic insertion of the Credit display name in Licence text.
Another previous update, is that you can now add a dynamic Mustache variable {{Credit}} to your Licence text - that automatically inserts any Asset Credits into the Licence text.
Here’s an example Licence text using the Mustache variable.
Royalty free worldwide with attribution required. Please credit {{Credit}}.
An example of how this might render in the UI for users as:
Royalty free worldwide with attribution required. Please credit Joe Bloggs Photography.
The dynamic insertion also supports multiple Credits added to Assets automatically.
e.g.
Royalty free worldwide with attribution required. Please credit Fred Dagg (photographer), Sally Smith (stylist), and Quentin Tarantino (director)
You’ll can configure Credit insertion per Licence in:
Admin > Settings > Licences > Select a Licence - Edit the body
Enjoy :)
New Brandkit Feature: Multiple Credits
Built to solve a real need from customer Resene Paints, Brandkit’s new Multiple Credits feature lets you assign more than one credit (photographer, stylist, supplier, etc.) to a single asset. Credits appear automatically on asset pages, in licence text via dynamic Mustache variables, and link to a dedicated Search page for each Credit.
